Marshall’s path to the award was not easy. Before enrolling at Cheyney, the nation’s oldest historically Black university, Marshall earned an associate degree in communications from the Community College of Philadelphia while working long hours to support himself.

ÐßÐßÊÓƵ of Pennsylvania has announced it has received a $145,000 grant from The Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to launch a new Summer Bridge Program in 2026. The highly competitive grant will fund a transformative weeklong, residential learning experience for 100 incoming Cheyney students in the summer of 2026.
