Cheyney Honors Academy

Current Academy Member Requirements

Honors Academy Scholars are expected to meet the following requirements to remain in good standing:

  • Enroll in and complete a minimum of 15 credits each semester
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  • Maintain a semester GPA of at least 3.0
  • Complete 30 credits of Honors coursework, including the Honors Capstone
  • Complete 10 hours of community service each semester
  • Attend all mandatory Honors Academy events and meetings
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the ذكذكتسئµ Student Handbook and the Honors Academy Program Governance Policy.

Please note, in order to maintain good standing in the Honors Academy and remain eligible for associated Honors scholarships, students must make adequate yearly progress to fulfill Honors Academy requirements. Dismissal from the Honors Academy will result in the loss of any honors awarded scholarships.

Admission Criteria for New Students

For First-Year, First-Time Students

  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.5
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Pennsylvania domicile

For Transfer and Continuing Students

  • Minimum college GPA of 3.5
  • At least 24 transferable college credits
  • Have not earned less than a 3.0 semester GPA at any previous institution
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Pennsylvania domicile

Holistic Review

Admission to the Honors Academy is competitive and holistic. In addition to GPA, the review process may consider:

  • Academic rigor and sustained performance
  • Leadership, initiative, and campus or community involvement
  • Service-oriented engagement and impact
  • Essay, interview, and letters of recommendation

Invitation to the Honors Academy

Admission into the ذكذكتسئµ Honors Academy is by invitation only. Based on ذكذكتسئµ admissions and established Keystone Honors Scholarship criteria, students who are awarded the Keystone Honors Scholarship and submit their Advance Registration Deposit (ARD) will be invited to join the Honors Academy.

Students selected for the Honors Academy will receive:

  • An official invitation letter from the Dean of the Honors Academy via email and/or the student portal.
  • Instructions to accept or decline the invitation through the student portal.

Students must submit their signed Honors Academy contract within 14 days of receiving their official invitation. Additional details can be found in the Honors Scholarship Terms & Conditions and the ذكذكتسئµ Honors Academy Contract.

 

Honors Academy Policies and Procedures

Students are strongly encouraged to review the ذكذكتسئµ Honors Academy Program Policy, which serves as the official source of information regarding Honors Academy membership, academic standards, scholarship eligibility, progression requirements, dismissal procedures, community service expectations, and student responsibilities.

The Honors Academy Program Policy provides detailed guidance on maintaining good standing within the Academy and should be consulted regularly by all current and prospective Honors Scholars. In the event of any discrepancy between website content and the official policy, the Honors Academy Program Policy shall serve as the governing document.
