How to Reset or Change Your Password
If you need to reset or change your university password, there are a couple of ways to do so depending on whether you are currently signed in. Currently, password resets can only be done on-campus.
If you are locked out of your computer or university systems:
You can begin the password reset process directly from the login screen on your company issued computer. Select the password reset option and follow the prompts to verify your identity and create a new password. You will need to verify your identity using the Microsoft Authenticator app.
If you are already logged in:
You may still use the login screen reset option, but the easiest method is to change your password through your Microsoft account. This method allows you to quickly update your password while signed in and ensures it syncs across your university systems.
Instructions and screenshots for changing your password through your Microsoft account are provided below.
Change your password from the following link,
Once logged in, select “Change password” from the menu on the far left:

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To further protect University systems, Cheyney uses multi-factor authentication (MFA). MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second verification step when signing in. MFA helps prevent unauthorized access—even if a password is compromised.
This may include:
- A push notification to your phone
- A verification code from an authenticator app
- Phone or app-based approval
Authenticator App Setup
Cheyney requires the use of an authenticator app for secure access to certain systems. To help you get started, download the app you need using the links below.
Your ذكذكتسئµ Account
All members of the Cheyney community are issued a University account that provides access to essential digital services, including academic systems, communication tools, and campus resources. Accounts are created by IT for eligible students, faculty, and staff. Access is role-based, meaning what you can see and do depends on your affiliation with the University.
Your account is used to access:
- Your Cheyney-issued computer
- Desire2Learn (D2L)
- (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive)
- ServiceNOW and IT support services
Passwords & Account Security
Protecting your account starts with a strong password. Cheyney requires secure passwords to help safeguard personal and institutional data.
Password Best Practices
-
