Registration & Eligibility

ÐßÐßÊÓÆµ holds one Commencement Ceremony annually in the Spring. Students who wish to celebrate their academic achievement, regardless of when they complete their degree requirements, will participate in this single annual ceremony.

This page will contain everything you need to know to confirm your eligibility and complete the steps required to participate in Commencement.

Who Can Participate (Eligibility Criteria)

  • Students who have completed or will complete all degree requirements by the end of the Spring term must submit an Anticipation of Graduation Application Form to their academic advisor.
  • These students are automatically eligible to participate in the Commencement Ceremony.
  • Students who need six (6) or fewer credits to complete their degree requirements in the Summer may apply to participate in Commencement.
  • They must submit both the Application to Participate (Walk) in Commencement and the Anticipation of Graduation Application Form to their academic advisor.
  • Both applications must be approved by the academic advisor and department chairperson and submitted to the Registrar’s Office to be added to the list of ceremony participants.

Participants vs. Graduates

Please understand the difference:

  • Participation in Commencement does not mean a student has officially graduated. They are considered potential candidates, pending the completion of all requirements.
  • Students approved to participate but who have not yet completed all degree requirements will be listed in the Commencement Program as participants.
  • Graduation is only official after final degree audit approval.

Final Steps to Graduation

Before your degree can be officially conferred, you must complete the following final steps.

  • Be sure to complete any remaining coursework.
  • After completing outstanding courses, you must notify your academic advisor and submit a new Anticipation of Graduation Application.
  • If any final courses were taken at another institution, you must submit official transcripts to the Registrar’s Office for their final degree audit.
  • This process is not automaticstudents must follow up to complete the final degree audit and become officially conferred as graduates.

Commencement vs. Graduation

  • Graduation is only official once the final degree audit is approved by the Registrar’s Office and the Provost’s Office.
  • Once conferred, the student’s official academic transcript will reflect their graduate status.
  • Diplomas will only be ordered for students who have been officially conferred as graduates.

IMPORTANT: Students will not be allowed to participate in Commencement if they have outstanding financial obligations or account holds with the University.
