Loan Exit Counseling
All graduating students who received federal student loans while enrolled at Ƶ are required to complete Loan Exit Counseling.
What Is Loan Exit Counseling?
Loan Exit Counseling is a federal requirement for students who borrowed a Direct Loan. It provides important information about:
- Your rights and responsibilities as a borrower
- Repayment options available to you
- How to avoid loan default
When Must Loan Exit Counseling Be Completed?
Loan Exit Counseling is required when a student:
- Prepares to graduate
- Drops below half-time enrollment (fewer than 6 credit hours)
- Withdraws from the University (officially or unofficially)
To ensure you receive important financial aid and loan-related information, please keep your mailing address, email, and phone number updated.
How to Complete Loan Exit Counseling
You will receive correspondence from the Student Financial Services Office with instructions on how to complete your Loan Exit Counseling. Once completed, you will receive a confirmation email verifying completion.

What Happens If You Don’t Complete Loan Exit Counseling?
Loan Exit Counseling is mandatory. Failure to complete it will result in a STOP being placed on your Ƶ account.
What this means:
- You will not receive your degree, diploma, or transcripts until the requirement is fulfilled.
- Graduation will not be affected, but you will be unable to obtain official documentation confirming your graduation.
Once Loan Exit Counseling is completed, the STOP will be removed by Student Financial Services.
